Your First Visit
In your first visit, we offer a complimentary examination where we evaluate the patient and then discuss our findings, treatment options, and financial information.
The first visit gives us a chance to meet and discuss any goals or questions you might have. We will take some photographs and an x-ray, then examine the patient. Once an assessment has been done, we can talk openly about our findings and the treatment options available. Key points of discussion may include optimal timing for treatment, anticipated length of treatment, risks/benefits/alternatives to treatment, and any procedures that would likely be required from the restorative dentist or alternative provider. Finally, our treatment coordinator will present the cost estimate and discuss possible financial arrangements with you.
If the patient is not yet ready for treatment, we will recommend complimentary re-examination visits. These may occur once or twice per year, and they allow us to evaluate the patient's dental and skeletal growth to determine the optimal time to begin treatment.
If the patient and family are ready for treatment, we will schedule an appointment for "records" which consists of taking new photos, models of the patient's teeth, and a second x-ray. If time is available after the initial examination, the patient may be able to have this appointment on the same day. Next, a consult appointment is scheduled. This meeting allows a discussion of the final treatment plan once the doctors have had a chance to review the records in their entirety.
Finally, the patient is scheduled for the preparation and placement of the orthodontic appliances!
